French chocolate mousse

French love chocolate mousse. And there is no easiest recipe than this one!

Serves: 2 - Prep Time: 20 min - Cooling Time: 1h

Equipment

  • Sauce pan
  • 1 medium bowl
  • Electric beaters

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp heavy whipping cream
  • 3 oz (100 g) dark chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp (20 g) butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp sugar

Directions

  1. Place the heavy cream in a sauce pan. Warm up until boiling.
  2. Stop the heat and add the chocolate and butter. Stir until combined. Set aside to cool slightly.
  3. Separate the egg whites and yolks into separate bowls.
  4. Using an electric beaters, beat the egg whites. When the egg whites start foaming, add the sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.
  5. Mix the yolks together, and then add the yolks to the chocolate mixture and mix to combine.
  6. Fold 1/3 the egg whites into the chocolate to stretch it out. Then fold the chocolate mixture into theremaining egg whites
  7. Pour into dishes.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.

Food Safety Note: Consuming raw eggs may increase your risk of foodborne illness, especially if you have certain medical conditions. Young children, the elderly, and pregnant women are also at increased risk. If your market carries pasteurized in-shell eggs, they are a safer option than regular raw eggs.
